Also hidden from us were the pervasive incidents of sexual harassment that a woman in tech might have to endure. One of the most recent incidents involved Uber’ Chief Executive Travis Kalanick. Kalanick resigned after evidence of repeated sexual harassment was disclosed by one of Uber’s engineers. Other female entrepreneurs have spoken out about how high-profile venture capitalists such as Chris Sacca (appeared on Shark Tank) of Lowercase Capital and Dave McClure of 500 Startups have sexually harassed or made suggestive comments to them.
